Domaine Plageoles Braucol, Gaillac, France, 2020 (750ml)

Sappy, juicy, spicy and, most importantly easy to enjoy. It does have a concentration of red berries and cassis at its core, but the acid is bright and crunchy, making it as refreshing as a red wine can be. There is a great lick of dried herbs, spices and bramble leaves which make for great complexity too. This is a wine which would look best with a slight chill - half an hour or so in the fridge before serving would be great.

Half of the grapes are destemmed and go through traditional fermentation while the other half goes through semi-carbonic fermentation with whole bunches. Temperature is controlled to be within 18-22 degrees Celsius. After malolactic fermentation the two wines are blended back together. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling and given a small dose of sulfur.
